Habit 4: Playfulness

Find your zest for life in fun, curiosity and adventure.

Playfulness

In our last module we discussed the concept of "Easefulness" to start loosening our grip on stressful situations. In addition to "letting go" of things that steal our joy, we need to make it a priority to infuse fun into our lives. The whole point of this course is to help you ENJOY your current life. Often the quickest way to JOY is injecting A spirit of playfulness into our everyday lives.

Think back to seasons of your life you consider the "golden times" in your life. Think about what specifically made it golden. Often people describe a certain level of easefulness, but more often than not, It was a time when you were having fun and finding ways to play and experience adventure. Even more often, that fun included connection and a certain level of playfulness with others.

During stressful seasons of life we tend to hunker down into serious or tedious tasks and forget that our inner child still wants to go outside and play. Depending on your personality, you may consider yourself a "fun" or "playful" or "funny" person already. But how much do you consciously prioritize fun, just for fun's sake? How often do you go "exploring" the world, your city, your neighborhood, or even just your backyard?

Play activates our bodies, breaks up stagnation, boosts our mood, fuels personal connection and trust with others, and opens up the creative side of our brain. It helps us come up with innovative (and easeful) solutions to life's many challenges. It helps us fully engage with our world in a way that wakes us up out of our natural "autopilot" existence, especially when work, school, childrearing, or other responsibilities dominate our days.

In this Module you will learn:

  • The many benefits of bringing humor, playfulness, and levity to all aspects of your life.

  • How to incorporate more adventure and novelty into your life.
