Habit 2: MINDFULNESS

Awaken to the present moment and manage your mind.

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is the second habit of Cultivating Joy that builds on our first habit of gratitude. Gratitude practices are great for taking you out of negative cycles in your head and grounding you in the beauties of the current moment. Practicing mindfulness helps take your gratitude practice deeper.

What is Mindfulness?

“Mindfulness” has become a buzzword in the last decade or so, but it is often shrouded in a bit of mystery. However, when practiced in it’s simplest forms, it’s actually super simple and easy to do throughout your day.

Let's start by defining what mindfulness is:

mind·ful·ness

/ˈmīn(d)f(ə)lnəs/

noun

  • the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.

  • a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations (often used as a therapeutic technique).

Simply put, any moment you are completely in the here in now, tapped into your five senses, taking in the world around you (without worrying or thinking about the past or future), you are practicing mindfulness.

In this Module you will learn:

  • How to achieve states of mindfulness

  • How to incorporate mindfulness into your day to day life

  • How to tap into deeper states of consciousness and awareness through the Bliss Body Meditation
