Transform your life by intentionally seeking JOY.

I have spent the last few weeks being grouchy, overwhelmed, and anxious for no reason.

So I spent some time this last week reflecting why. Has anything outwardly changed that much lately? No. So the issue has to be inward.

I realized the main reason behind my shift towards pessimism is that over the holidays I fell off from doing my “Joy Habits.”

What are my specific “Joy Habits?” I’m not going to give that information away just yet, but I’ll tell you the WHY behind why I try do them religiously.

Our brains are wired for our “survival,” not joy. We are always naturally looking out for threats, for imperfections, for the other shoe to drop as a way of protecting ourselves. In unsafe situations, this is a wonderful thing our brains does for us. When our lives are otherwise “fine,” this natural tendency robs our enJOYment of life.

Therefore, joy has to be “Cultivated.” It has to be PRACTICED often to create a new nueropathway away from fruitless negativity towards loving this one, fleeting, beautiful life we get to live.

Over a year ago I created a course called "Cultivating Joy," in which I have distilled wisdom from the fields of neuroscience, psychotherapy, yogic philosophy and religious/spiritual practice to identify 6 keys habits to living an intentionally joyful life.

I have been making it point to “test” the course out myself and enact these habits in my own life over the last year.

I cannot emphasize how truly LIFE CHANGING these habits have been for me. I credit much of my own empowerment, healing, and success this year to doing these habits. When I do them, I feel INSTANT joy. When I fall off from doing them, my default mood is irritable. You can ask my husband-- he can tell a clear difference on days I do my joy habits vs. the days I don’t. I’m a busy working Mom, so many days I do my “habits” in about 5 minutes, and the effect is still profound.

The pandemic and momming (and a touch of perfectionism) has kept me from being ready to release the course to the masses, but now, it's finally time!!!!

It will be a 6 week group course starting on February 20th that will include lots of content on HOW to do the habits, weekly zoom coaching calls on Saturdays at 12pm EST to practice and troubleshoot what steals our joy, being matched with a “Joy buddy,” and daily prompts and inspiration in a private Facebook group to keep up the excitement, accountability, and deep self-work.

Seats will be limited so I can give each participant the attention and care they deserve on this powerful journey.

So stay tuned for more information as I launch this beautiful experience. I am SO excited to watch other people’s lives transform in the way that mine has, and for us to do this together in fellowship together. Our joy is going to be reverberating off each other and building and spilling into the lives of everyone we encounter throughout our day. I am SO excited for this journey!

If you would like to receive more information about the course, you’re welcome to subscribe to updates here: https://www.self-careconsulting.com/cultivatingjoysubscribe.

I will use the next month promoting the event, but regardless of who chooses to enroll, I invite everyone who sees these posts to start thinking about the concept of Joy, and start orienting yourselves toward it.

We only have this one, fleeting, beautiful life. Let’s choose to enJOY it as often as we can, even (especially) when life gets hard.
